Sugar Free Naturally Sweetened Cranberry Sauce Recipe

I love cranberry’s and used to have cranberry juice all the time. However since I’ve given up refined sugar and artificial sweeteners I rarely have anything cranberry, until now. They are too bitter on their own so need some sweetness, here I opt for dates and orange juice. As you can see from the photo the resulting sauce is thick and very dark. As it is fresh and doesn’t contain any sugar it should be refrigerated and consumed within 3 days.


  •  400g cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 100g dates, diced
  • juice of two oranges


  1. Heat everything on a low medium heat and add 50ml of water
  2. Stir occasionally, reduce the heat and add more water if it starts to catch
  3. When all the berrys have burst (about 10 mins) set aside to cool

Use it how you would any jam – on cakes, on porridge, on chia puddings or with savory meals. It will make your whole house smell of Christmas.
